Columbia TriStar Intl. Television exec Darren Childs has been upped to the newly created post of senior VP of international networks.
Childs, who had been CTIT’s VP of international networks since 1998, will continue to report to John McMahon, exec VP and managing director of Europe, and Jon Petrovich, exec VP of international channels.
He’ll also continue to be based in London.
In his new post, Childs will manage all of CTIT’s channels in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Spain and Israel are territories being added to his plate.
Childs will continue to oversee the business activities and initiatives of CTIT’s joint-venture and wholly owned channels.
CTIT is looking to him to lead its charge in seeking new opportunities in Europe for its channels and branded programming blocks, a company spokesman said.
“He has grown from being an integral member to becoming the driving force behind our London-based, international networks team,” McMahon said of the exec.
“We are confident that he will continue to offer astute direction that will contribute to the channels’ and company’s future achievements,” Petrovich added.
Prior to joining CTIT, Childs was director of business development at Channel V, part of News Corp.’s StarTV. He also previously served as director of programming for MTV Asia.
