MIAMI — CNN has expanded its Mexico City bureau into a full-service TV and Internet newsroom, its first for Latin America.
The office will be one of the first in the CNN News Group worldwide to use digital video cameras and laptop editing gear, employing smaller teams to achieve a faster turnaround in the field.
The new studio will continue as CNN’s headquarters for Mexico, Central America and Caribbean newsgathering operations in both English and Spanish. The bureau is the hub for the Mexico feed of CNN en Espanol, the Latino pan-regional news network.
“The Mexico bureau is a great example of how we plan to implement operating efficiencies and the redeployment of resources,” said Eason Jordan, chief news executive and news gathering president of the CNN News Group.
