Claxson acquires controlling stake in StarTV

MIAMI — Claxson Interactive Group has acquired a controlling stake in StarTV, the second-largest ad sales rep agency for pay TV in Brazil.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Paulo Leal will stay on as president of StarTV; industry vet Mario Pestana, most recently of HBO Brazil, has been tapped general manager.

The two will work closely with Ignacio Uranga, Claxson’s general director for Brazil.

Claxson is backed by the Cisneros Group and Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst.
