Channel 22 inks with Canal Plus

Deal includes 52 hours of Canal product annually

MEXICO CITY — Channel 22, Mexico’s state-owned cultural TV station, has inked a programming deal with Spain’s Canal Plus.

Under the deal, Channel 22 will air 52 hours of Canal Plus’ product annually and the two stations will also look to co-produce documentaries and arts shows.

Move follows other programming deals between Channel 22 and European broadcasters such as the BBC and the Mexican station’s recent re-invention in an effort to lure more younger viewers.
