It’s another sunshine day for Gary Cole and Shelley Long. Thesps have inked with Paramount Network Television to reprise their roles as Mike and Carol Brady in Fox telepic “The Brady Bunch in the White House.”
Casting marks the first time Cole and Long have played Bradys on the small screen, having portrayed the classic 1970s parents in the Par features “The Brady Bunch Movie” and “A Very Brady Sequel.” Neal Israel is set to helm the telepic, which begins lensing in Toronto in November.
Tentatively titled telepic imagines a world in which Mike and Carol’s good deeds land them in the White House as president and vice president, respectively (Daily Variety, March 28). Lloyd Schwartz and Hope Juber wrote the pic, with Schwartz and his father, Sherwood, serving as producers.
There’s no word yet on whether other thesps from the “Brady” features will reprise their roles.
While not a continuation of the feature franchise, pic is expected to have a similar tone to its bigscreen predecessors.
Overall, however, “It’s a new direction for the Bradys,” Par Network TV longform topper Marshall Coben said. “We’re opening the franchise up a lot further. We hope to do many more of these for Fox.”
