Boland exits MTV for E4

Exec replaces Newman in January

LONDON — Murray Boland is quitting as program director for MTV in the U.K. and will join E4 as head of programs.

E4 is a digital entertainment channel launched by pubcaster Channel 4 that mixes U.S. imports such as “The West Wing” and “The Sopranos” with youth-oriented local productions such as “Banzai.”

Boland will join E4 in January to replace Andrew Newman, who is leaving to become head of entertainment at Channel 5. Boland will report to C4 entertainment chief Danielle Lux.
