MIAMI — The Colombian manufacturer of a doll based on the title character of the international hit telenovela “Betty la Fea” will unveil a Barbie-sized version.
Los Angeles-based Uno Prods. is distributing a 21-inch doll with Betty’s signature oversized glasses, bad hairdo, bushy eyebrows and braces.
Uno’s Luis Medina is trying to bring the doll to markets where the telenovela has been successful.
Company struck a deal with Spanish-lingo Web portal Terra.com, which is sponsoring a drawing in the U.S. and Puerto Rico to give away dolls.
The last episode of “Betty” aired Friday in the U.S. on Telemundo and, by the finale, Betty had been revealed as a great beauty.
