Baseball pic ’61*’ pitches in for HBO

Crystal-helmed pic finds 4.7 mil viewers

NEW YORK — HBO slugged a Nielsen home run with the primetime premiere of its baseball biopic “61*,” delivering a 9.7 rating in cable homes, the highest-rated HBO original movie in more than a year.

The Billy Crystal-helmed pic harvested 3.2 million HBO households and 4.7 million viewers Saturday. The last original HBO movie to hit those heights was “If These Walls Could Talk II,” which averaged an 11.5 rating in March 2000.
