ABC is showing a bunch of confidence in “The Wayne Brady Show,” ordering six more episodes of the variety skein.
Moves comes three weeks after the series bowed to solid Nielsen numbers, marking one of the few variety shows in years to demonstrate any ratings potential. New segs are being saved for midseason, most likely in January.
“Wayne is truly one of the most versatile and talented performers with whom we’ve ever worked, and we’re thrilled that this series allows us to showcase his talent,” senior VP of alternative series and special for ABC Andrea Wong said.
In addition to Brady, series stars Brooke Dillman, Jonathan Mangum, J.P. Manoux and Missi Pyle.
