ABC already is mulling a third installment of its reality skein “The Mole.”
The net has given producers at Stone Stanley the go-ahead to begin recruiting contestants for “The Mole 3.” Applications will be posted shortly on ABC.com; potential players will be allowed to submit their forms until Oct. 20.
“The Mole 3” could be readied for air as soon as next spring — but ABC isn’t expected to officially decide whether to greenlight the new edition until it sees how this fall’s “The Mole 2: The Next Betrayal” performs. “Mole 2” premieres Friday at 8 p.m. on the Alphabet web.
While not a pop cultural phenom in the vein of “Survivor” or “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” the original “Mole” pulled strong numbers for ABC last season, ranking as the net’s No. 1 show among adults 18 to 34.
