Finance exec replaces Wolters
NEW YORK — James Hedges has been upped to senior VP and chief financial officer of the ABC Television Network.
Hedges, who had been senior VP, finance and planning for the ABC Entertainment Television Group, replaces John Wolters, who opted not to make the move to the West Coast. Reporting to Alex Wallau, president of the ABC Television Network, and Laurie Younger, senior VP and chief financial officer, ABC Inc., Hedges will be based in Burbank, Calif. It is unclear what role — if any — Wolters will play at ABC.
Hedges will be responsible for finance, planning, accounting and information technology services across all dayparts of the television network.
“We are fortunate to have an executive as talented as Jim Hedges already in place to take this key position,” Wallau said. “His proven expertise in finance, entertainment and other areas will continue to help shape ABC’s successful future at this crucial time in our business.”
During the past year, Hedges helped to consolidate ABC’s primetime entertainment programming group and the Touchstone Television production unit within ABC Entertainment Television Group. He has also been involved in the major financial decisions related to ABC Entertainment programming.
Previously, Hedges was vice president of finance for Buena Vista Television, where he oversaw all financial aspects of the syndication division’s programs. Prior to joining Buena Vista TV in 1995, Hodges was assistant controller for both Lucasfilm Ltd. and TriStar Pictures and director of financial reporting for Sony Pictures Entertainment. Previously, he was assistant controller for The Guber-Peters Entertainment Company before its acquisition by Sony USA.
