PARIS — AB Groupe, supplier of thematic channels to the digital pay TV market in France, has announced profits for 2000 of 13.8 million euro ($12.6 million) — an increase of 134.5% over 1999. Revenues were up 9.3% to $126.4 million.
The rise stems mainly from the continued growth in satellite and cable feevee services in France.
The 17 channels of ABsat, the group’s digital platform, were launched in 1996 and had produced heavy losses. The webs, which include AB Moteurs (motor sports), Escales (travel) and Animaux (animals), registered an operating profit of $7.2 million, compared with a loss of $3.4 million in 1999.
