NEW YORK — Stanley Tucci has signed to play Groucho Marx in “Love, Groucho,” a CBS telepic based on the book by his daughter, Miriam Marx Allen, which provides an intimate look at the Marx Brothers leader through her eyes. Jennifer Miller wrote the script.
Alliance Atlantis is producing the film; company recently paired with Storyline on ABC’s “Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadow,” the season’s top-rated miniseries. Peter Sussman and Ed Gernon (“Nuremberg,” “Joan of Arc”) are producing “Groucho.”
While CBS moves forward with “Love, Groucho,” Universal and Jersey Films are proceeding with feature treatment of the Marx clan in a film being written and to be directed by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, whose biopic scripting credits include “The People vs. Larry Flynt” and “Man on the Moon.”
