Bam! NBC has kicked “Emeril” off the Peacock’s November sweeps lineup. Starting Nov. 6, frosh laffer will be replaced by repeats, a J. Lo concert spec and, for one week, an hourlong episode of “Three Sisters.” It’s expected to return in December.
Despite horrible reviews, NBC execs had been encouraged by early ratings for “Emeril,” which — while not great — were actually better than what the Peacock earned in the slot last fall. Two weeks ago, however, the show’s ratings started trending down a notch; this week, skein finished sixth among adults 18-49. While conventional wisdom would suggest “Emeril” is cooked, NBC Entertainment prexy Jeff Zucker has been a strong defender of the series and may be inclined to give the show another shot.
Meanwhile, CBS has bumped next week’s episode of “Wolf Lake” to make room for an hourlong spec featuring highlights from sister cabler VH1’s “Concert for New York City.” Skein was always set to be pre-empted Nov. 7 for the Country Music Awards; Eye has not yet announced whether “Wolf” will howl during the rest of the ratings frame.
