HOLLYWOOD — With all the humor and charm of his grandfather Danny Thomas, Jason Thomas Gordon — an up-and-coming independent film director-actor — shared hosting duties with his aunt Marlo and uncle Tony at the 21st annual St. Jude Hollywood Gala on Thursday night at the BevHilton.
He explained that due to his family’s hypochondriac nature, dozens of bottles of hand sanitizer were in their possession that evening to ward off germs from all the hand-shaking.
“If there’s one family whose mission is to rid the country of disease, it is the Thomas family,” Gordon stated definitively.
The evening, which raised more than $1.7 million for the research center and hospital, was dedicated to Thomas matriarch Rose Marie, who died in July at the age of 86.
Entertainment was provided by comedian Robert Klein, Chaka Khan and Grammy winners Destiny’s Child, which performed a heartfelt, a cappella rendition of “Jesus Loves Me.”
Those on hand to shake all those Thomas hands included Crystal Bernard, Thora Birch, Cindy Crawford, Geena Davis, Topher Grace, Courtney Love, Shaquille O’Neal, Steven Seagal and Michael Stipe.
