Tribute paid to Gotham, D.C.'s firefighters, police, emergency personnel
Though a toast to L.A.’s finest, the Los Angeles Police Historical Society’s eighth annual Jack Webb Awards worked just as hard to pay tribute to Gotham and D.C.’s bravest.
Several East Coast firefighters, police officers and emergency personnel who worked at New York City’s ground zero were on hand at Sunday’s Hollywood & Highland ballroom to accept special Jack Webb Awards chat with the likes of Dennis Franz.
After a live auction that raised funds for the society and New York Police and Fire Widows and Children, Andy Garcia presented an award to his “surrogate father,” former MGM chief Frank Mancuso.
Recipient Steven Bochco pledged gratitude to police officers for trusting his work and hoped the event wasn’t “a ruse to snag me on all my outstanding warrants.”
Honors were also given to Galpin Motors prexy H.F. “Bert” Boeckmann.
Among the 900 attendees were Buzz Aldrin, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Gordon Clapp, Beverly Garland, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Esai Morales, Charlotte Ross, Susan Ruttan, Henry Simmons and Connie Stevens.
