Wilt S. Melnick

Agent Wilt S. Melnick, who discovered and represented such celebs as Debbie Reynolds, Kim Novak, Margot Kidder and Rod Taylor, died of leukemia July 28 at his Bel-Air home. He was 85.

His roster of clients also included Anne Baxter, Carrie Fisher, Rosanna Arquette and Timothy Hutton.

After serving in World War II as a lieutenant, the Chicago native joined the Louis Shurr Agency, where he eventually became a partner. Melnick switched to Chase-Park-Citron in 1968 and advanced to vice president. Weathering ICM’s buyout of that agency in the 1980s, he retired in 1987.

Melnick is survived by his wife, Viney, his brother, a son, a daughter and two grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Leukemia Society, 100 Corporate Point, Culver City, CA 90230.
