Rene Holtzman

Rene Holtzman, whose showbiz relatives credit her with inspiring them in their humanitarian efforts in the entertainment industry, died Oct. 16 of heart disease in Los Angeles. She was 76.

She is survived by two sons, David Michaels, founder of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ TV Cares and director of development for the Western Region of the Actors’ Fund of America, and Andy Holtzman, senior VP at Discovery Exhibits & Events; daughter-in-law Joan Messinger, agent at Pinnacle Commercial Talent; and a grandson.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Actors’ Fund of America’s Sept. 11th campaign.
