Juan Villalonga, former prexy of Spanish telco Telefonica ousted for alleged insider trading, has joined the board of Portugal’s Banco Espirito Santo Financial Group. It holds 10% of top Portuguese telco Portugal Telecom (PT).
The news comes swiftly after Villalonga’s appointment to the board of U.S. Hispanic broadcaster Univision.
The two posts look set to be the first high corporate scalps which Villalonga collects as he regains favor as an influential player in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world.
PT’s international ally is Telefonica, the company which ousted Villalonga from its top post last July.
