Pioneer business agent and veteran story analyst Joan Southerden Orihuela died of natural causes May 8 in Woodland Hills, Calif. She was 81.
Born in England, she received the Order of the British Empire for her military service during WWII as a Royal Air Force flight instructor and member of the Psychological Warfare Division.
A U.S. citizen since 1950, she was the second female business agent in IATSE history, who subsequently moved on to a 30-year career as a story analyst at Desilu, Fox, Universal and ABC.
She is survived by a son and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the John Ford Chapel of the Motion Picture Country Home, 23388 Mulholland Dr., Woodland Hills.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Los Angeles Alzheimer’s Assn.
