European film exec Ed Weinberg died Aug. 4 in Spain after suffering a stroke. Weinberg, who was born in Paris, was 53.
Weinberg had worked for and with Warner Bros. in a number of capacities for nearly 28 years. He joined the company in 1974 as a trainee and rose through the executive ranks to become General Manager in both Panama and Belgium before being named Warner Bros. Pictures representative in Spain in 1982.
In 1998, Weinberg was named Deputy General Manager of Warner Bros.’ joint venture with Sogefilms in Spain, a post he held until his death.
Weinberg holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Paris and an MBA from UCLA.
Weinberg is survived by his wife, Dianna, and sons Scott and Danny.
A memorial service is planned for Sept.12 in Madrid.
