Allen Epstein

A memorial service for TV producer Allen Epstein, who died Jan. 30 of an apparent heart attack at his home in Los Angeles, will be held at noon todayat Mt. Sinai, 5950 Forest Lawn Dr. Memorial contributions in Epstein’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Assn.

In 1976 Epstein partnered with Jim Green to form Green/Epstein Prods. They became successful producers of telepics and miniseries for the networks and cablers such as HBO and USA Network. Both spent several years as execs at ABC Television, where they pioneered the movie-of-the-week format.

Among the telepics they supervised were “Brian’s Song” and “That Certain Summer.”

Epstein is survived by a sister and several nieces and nephews.
