MIP Brief

Following an accord announced Tuesday at Mip TV with Brazil’s TV Globo, Saban has also renewed its volume deal with Portugal’s biggest broadcaster, private net SIC. Under the two-year extension of an original three-year deal, SIC will air some 500 half-hours of Saban programming, principally animated kids fare. Deal was inked by Saban Intl. prexy Stan Golden and SIC deputy programming director Manuel Fonseca.

In separate moves, SIC also has acquired docu extravaganza “Walking With Beasts” and drama miniseries “Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Lost World” from the BBC and picked up Portuguese TV rights to New Line’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
