The Sales Co. changes name, brand, logo

London-based film sales house The Sales Company, one of the U.K.’s oldest sales operations, has changed its name to The Works and will unveil its new brand and logo in the lead-up to the London Screenings and Mifed.

The name change, instituted by new chief exec Aline Perry (Daily Variety, Oct. 11), is part of the company’s remit to rebrand and to expand its sales and film financing operation.

Perry has promoted Joy Wong to head of international sales and Clare Crean to senior sales exec. In addition, The Works has hired Brian Shingles (formerly of Vine International Pictures) as head of technical services, Juliette Gill (ex-Capitol Films marketing manager) as marketing coordinator, Andrew Orr (formerly at Universal) as acquisitions and distribution coordinator and Rachel Kitten as festivals and servicing coordinator. The Works’ upcoming slate for the London/MIFED market include Michael Winterbottom’s “24 Hour Party People,” “Doctor Sleep,” directed by Nick Willing, and “Bend it Like Beckham,” directed by Gurinder Chadha.
