25th anniversary event opens Thursday
MONTREAL — Gallic thesp Emmanuelle Beart has been tapped to serve as president of the jury at the 25th anniversary edition of the Montreal World Film Festival, fest prexy Serge Losique announced Friday. Event opens Thursday and runs through Sept. 3.
Beart — whose credits include “Manon of the Spring,” “Nelly and Mr. Arnaud” and “Mission: Impossible” — starred most recently in helmer Catherine Corsini’s “Replay,” which will screen out of competition in Montreal.
The jury for the festival’s competition also includes helmers Rakhstan Bani Etemad (“Under the Skin of the City”) from Iran; Jamie Humberto Hermosillo (“Written on the Body of the Night”) from Mexico; Zsolt Kezdi-Kovacs (“I’ve Met Some Wonderful People”) from Hungary; Jeanine Meerapfel (“Anna’s Summer”) from Argentina; and actors Pascale Montpetit (“Pandora’s Beauty”) from Quebec and Juanjo Puigcorbe (“The Diary of Lady M”) from Spain.
