Distant Corners takes ‘Peek’

Co. toppers to produce horror pic

TORONTO — The first feature for Revolution Studios-based Distant Corners Entertainment Group will be horror pic “Don’t Peek” (aka “The Tooth Fairy”), with company toppers John Hegeman and John Fasano set to produce.

Pic, to be directed by tyro helmer Jonathan Liebesman, is budgeted at $6 million-$8 million and will head into production in November in Australia. Chicago legit thesp Chaney Clay will play the male lead opposite Emma Caulfield (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”).

Village Roadshow Prods. will co-finance with Revolution-based Blue Star Pictures. Blue Star’s William Sherak and Jason Shuman will also produce. Revolution will distribute.

Script by Joe Harris centers on a young man considered crazy by everyone in town, except for his childhood girlfriend (Caulfield) and her little brother. The young man is the only thing that stands between a legendary evil and the boy.

“This movie fits squarely into our plan to franchise properties across media,” said Hegeman, who played a major role in the marketing of “The Blair Witch Project.”

Liebesman’s NYU short “Genesis and Catastrophe” won him the gig.
