Exec to o'see N. American marketing and sales
Universal Music and Video Distribution has upped Jim Weatherston to executive VP, reporting to group prexy Jim Urie.
Weatherston will oversee the division’s North American marketing and sales efforts for Universal Music’s label imprints, including flagships Island/Def Jam, Interscope, Geffen, A&M and MCA.
Appointment caps a 15-year tenure for Weatherston at UMVD, during which he has had stints as branch manager, sales manager and sales rep.
Immediately prior to his promotion, Weatherston was a divisional veepee at UMVD’s central division, based in Dallas, where he handled more than half of the company’s sales, and developed Universal’s strategic partnerships with music retailers.
