MTV, USO set holiday concert

Event to be aired Stateside New Year's Day

WASHINGTON — MTV U.S. has teamed up with the USO to produce a holiday concert to be taped at an undisclosed military base overseas and aired Stateside New Year’s Day.

Recording stars Jennifer Lopez, Kid Rock and Ja Rule will headline the special bash, with MTV’s Carson Daly hosting. The concert will air only in U.S. markets. Armed Forces Entertainment also is partnering. MTV News’ Gideon Yago will do on-site interviews.

The 90-minute show, “For the Troops: An MTV/USO Special,” will air at 2 p.m. ET/PT on Jan. 1. Dave Sirulnick and Salli Frattini are exec producing; Alex Coletti is producer, Steve Paley director.
