Former Miramax exec to o'see Producers & Engineers arm

The Recording Academy has named former Miramax exec and recording artist Leslie Lewis as director of its Producers & Engineers Wing.

Lewis will oversee the efforts of the P&E Wing, which boasts a membership of 5,000 producers and engineers, to provide a voice for the pro sound community on such issues as new technologies, recording and mastering standards and music archiving and preservation.

Before joining the academy, Lewis had been VP of motion picture music for Miramax since 1999. Prior to that, she worked at Polygram, BMG Entertainment and Sony Music in a variety of capacities, including A&R, music supervision, soundtracks, licensing and product management.

Lewis has also worked in film production, as a studio manager and as a musician, touring with the likes of Alice Cooper, Ice-T and Jeffrey Osborne.
