Harvey’s ‘Stories’ takes Mercury

Singer accepts prize from Washington

LONDON — Eclectic singer P J Harvey has won the U.K.’s prestigious Mercury Music Prize for her album, “Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea.”

Harvey got the nod, which celebrates the artier end of British music, Tuesday night, but accepted the prize from Washington, were she was skedded to perform.

In her acceptance speech, Harvey expressed her shock at the terrorist attack on the U.S.
