Will o'see global product management

NEW YORK — Columbia Records has tapped Tom Aaron to head up its international division, expanding his duties at the Sony Music imprint to include responsibility for all Columbia releases outside the U.S.

Aaron, who will be based in New York and report directly to exec VP John Ingrassia, most recently was Columbia’s vice president, international.

Exec’s new responsibilities include overseeing international product management for all of Columbia’s U.S. signings as well as special products, special marketing initiatives and tapping into the label’s catalog abroad. He also will coordinate worldwide artist development with Sony Music’s international division.

Along with his new duties, Aaron will continue to develop releases from non-U.S. artists in their respective markets.

Aaron came on board at Columbia’s international unit just under a decade ago, following brief stints as an assistant and agent trainee at EMI and the William Morris Agency, respectively. Starting as an assistant, he worked his way into the executive ranks, first as a director and eventually as international VP.
