ArtistDirect Records, the new label set up by Interscope Records co-founder Ted Field, has named ex-Arista Records exec Jim Swindel as executive VP of sales and marketing.
Swindel will begin his tenure running the sales and marketing campaigns for ArtistDirect’s flagship act Custom, which Field signed late last summer with an advance reported to be north of $1 million, as well as Field’s first signing, hip-hop act NAAM Brigade. Swindel also will work with Field on digital music ventures at ArtistDirect.
Exec comes to ArtistDirect after two years at the helm of Amplified Entertainment, which delivered streams and downloads of digital music for promotions.
Before that, he spent three years as senior VP of sales and joint-venture operations at Arista, working with such acts as Sean “Puffy” Combs and TLC. Swindel also has held exec posts at Quest Records, Virgin Records and Island Records.
