'Producers' tapped eight times

“The Producers” dominated with eight awards as the Outer Critics Circle announced its winners for the 2000-01 New York theater season. No fewer than three categories saw a tie, with the outstanding revival of a play nod going to both “Gore Vidal’s The Best Man” and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

“What extraordinary memories this group must have since we are no longer playing and were one of the first shows of the season,” Vidal commented in a statement.

OCC, which comprises writers on Gotham theater for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media, will present its awards on May 24 at Sardi’s.
