Thesp stars in Anderson's play at Geffen Playhouse

NEW YORK — Beau Bridges is set to play a married man who opts for a sex-change operation in Jane Anderson’s new play “Looking for Normal,” skedded to open at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles on April 11.

Laurie Metcalf co-stars as his wife of 25 years. Also cast are Michael Learned and Jordan Bridges, son of Beau. Ron Lagomarsino, who helmed “The Last Night of Ballyhoo” on Broadway, will direct.

“Looking for Normal” originally workshopped at the Mark Taper Forum. The Geffen engagement marks its world premiere.

Anderson wrote the screenplays for “How to Make an American Guilt” and “It Could Happen to You,” as well as the teleplays for “The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom” and the first segment of “If These Walls Could Talk 2,” starring Vanessa Redgrave. In 1998, she directed the Showtime version of her play “Baby Dance.”
