‘Yeager’ takes flight

Prod'n trio soars with bio pic

HOLLYWOOD — Mike Medavoy’s Phoenix Pictures is teaming with 20th Century Fox and Richard D. Zanuck’s Zanuck Co. to produce the life story of Gen. Chuck Yeager.

“Yeager” will follow the famous test pilot’s exploits from his roots in West Virginia through his WWII dogfights and culminating in the first successful flight to break the sound barrier.

Based on the 1985 memoir “Yeager: An Autobiography” by Yeager and Leo Janos, the screenplay was written by Ray Wright. Richard D. Zanuck, Lili Fini Zanuck and Medavoy will produce; Stephen Carbone will serve as executive producer.

Dean Zanuck will oversee the project on behalf of the Zanuck Co. Overseeing the project for Phoenix are exec VP of production Matt Bierman, VP of production Brad Fischer and Anne Rodman. Fox execs are production prexy Hutch Parker and VP of production Emma Watts.
