Williams sets Moreland to adapt Grimm parody

Toon house Greenlight Media involved with project

HOLLYWOOD — “Shrek” producer John Williams and Berlin animation house Greenlight Media have hired Rob Moreland to pen the feature adaptation of the German TV series “SimsalaGrimm,” a parody of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales.

Williams signed a multipic production and development agreement with Greenlight earlier this summer (Daily Variety, June 15).

Moreland’s pilot/animation short “Thunder Pig” is in development at Nickelodeon’s Creative Lab, while his pilot “Rednecks in Space” is in the works at Sony Family, with Williams producing.

Moreland, who is repped by the Brant Rose Agency, was the first recipient of the UCLA Graduate Directing Program’s Lew Wasserman fellowship.

Williams and his company, Vanguard Films, also produced “Seven Years in Tibet.” Vanguard is currently assembling “The Tuxedo,” starring Jackie Chan and Jennifer Love Hewitt, for DreamWorks.
