Scribe Johnson inks latest in a series of deals
Universal Pictures has paid low-six figures to pick up the tentatively titled pitch “Hands of Time” from scribe Joanna Johnson.
Team Todd’s Jennifer and Suzanne Todd are in negotiations to produce. Project, brought into U by senior VP of production Donna Langley, is a dramatic thriller about a man who goes back in time to look for the person responsible for murdering his wife.
Deal is the latest in a series that Johnson, who is repped by WMA and Industry Entertainment, has clinched recently. In March she sold the tentatively titled pitch “The Boy’s Club” to the Walt Disney Co. Lawrence Bender (“Pulp Fiction,” “The Mexican”) is attached to produce.
Johnson also penned “Madame President,” in development at Universal Pictures, with Tom Shadyac attached to produce and direct. Buffy Shutt and Cathy Jones are producing via their Shutt-Jones Prods., along with Shadyac’s Shady Acres.
She is also writing “Little White Lies” for Miramax, with Bender set as producer. Bender recently signed on to produce “Dirty Dancing II” for Miramax.
Team Todd will next produce “American Princess,” with Andy Fleming (“Dick”) directing. Pic begins lensing in the fall for New Line.
