Trade Center removed from ‘Zoolander’

Cyberbiz Brief

The producers of “Zoolander” recently asked visual f/x shop Pacific Vision to complete the last minute removal of the World Trade Center from a scene in the Ben Stiller comedy, which featured the skyscrapers in the background of several shots. Paramount releases the pic on Sept. 28. The moves comes as Sony said it will remove the famed towers from next summer’s “Spider-Man.”

Similarly, Microsoft is scrambling to remove the World Trade Center from the New York landscape that appears in its upcoming “Flight Simulator 2002” game. Game, which lets players fly a variety of airplanes (including commercial jets like a Boeing 747) over cities such as New York City, Las Vegas and Seattle hits store shelves Oct. 18.

“We decided, after some careful consideration, that we want to do the appropriate thing, the right thing, so we decided to remove the towers,” said Microsoft spokesman Matt Pilla.
