BERLIN — For the first project from its new animation division, Studio Hamburg Produktion is joining Ellipse Deutschland for a toon/live-action feature based on Oscar Wilde’s “The Canterville Ghost.”
Pic is the first of four the pair will produce, according to Andreas Ulmer, head of Studio Hamburg’s animation division. The companies inked the cooperation pact this summer.
The screenplay for “Canterville Ghost” is finished, although director and cast are yet to be signed. Companies also are looking for additional financing.
The animated portions likely will be done at Ellipsanime, Ellipse Deutschland’s French affiliate, Ulmer said, while live-action scenes might be shot in the U.K.
Ulmer and Stephan Schesch, chief exec of Ellipse Deutschland, are executive producing the pic.
Ellipse and Ellipsanime are developing a “Baron Munchhausen” animated series for Teutonic tyke pubcaster Kika; project is backed by private German media fund Mediability.
