ThinkFilm eyes ‘World’ rights

Freundlich's pic stars Moore, Crudup

NEW YORK — ThinkFilm, the nascent shingle founded by former Lions Gate execs Jeff Sackman and Mark Urman, is in final negotiations to take domestic distribution rights to Bart Freundlich’s “World Traveler,” starring Julianne Moore and Billy Crudup.

Pic, financed by IFC Prods., preemed at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival. Tim Perrell produced while IFC’s Carolyn Kaplan and John Sehring served as exec producers.

Penned and helmed by Freundlich (“The Myth of Fingerprints”), “World Traveler” accounts one man’s emotional and psychological journey across the country.

Deal between IFC, the producers and ThinkFilm is being handled by John Sloss of Cinetic Media. ThinkFilm plans to release eight to 10 pics per year once the shingle is fully operational by January.

ThinkFilm already has acquired “The Last Wedding,” helmed by Bruce Sweeney, which opened the Toronto fest.
