Co. also acquires domestic rights to 'Mask'

PARK CITY, Utah — Strand Releasing has acquired domestic rights to two pics that premiered at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival: Marcelo Pineyro’s “Burnt Money” (Plata Quemada) and Samantha Lang’s “The Monkey’s Mask.”

Set in Argentina in 1965, “Bunt Money” follows the tumultuous relationship between two men who became lovers and ultimately ruthless bankrobbers in a notoriously famous footnote in the annals of crime history. Pic will be released in July.

“The Monkey’s Mask” is a lesbian noir detective thriller starring Kelly McGillis to be released in August.

“We’re thrilled to be associated with these films and continuing our successful relacionship with both Canal Plus and UGC Intl.,” said co-president Jon Gerrans of Strand Releasing. “These films are excellent additions to our library of award-winning titles.”
