Dardenne freres to helm 'Le Fils'

PARIS — Belgian helmers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne, who directed the controversial 1999 Cannes Palme d’Or winner “Rosetta,” are set to helm and co-produce “Le Fils” (The Son) with French production outfit Archipel 35.

The $2.2 million pic, about a carpentry teacher in a rehab center, will be co-produced by the brothers’ production outfit Films du Fleuve. Lensing begins Sept. 19 in Belgium. Olivier Gourmet stars.

“Le Fils” will be distributed by Diaphana. “Rosetta” collected $3.7 million in France.
