Smiling on ‘Mona Lisa’

Roberts to star in Revolution pic penned by Konner, Rosenthal

Julia Roberts will star in Revolution Studios’ “Mona Lisa Smile,” which will begin filming next spring in an unspecified East Coast city.

Roberts will play a free-spirited graduate of Berkeley who goes to Wellesley in 1953 to teach.

Pic, penned by Larry Konner and Mark Rosenthal, will be produced by Revolution Studios partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Deb Schindler, head of Roberts’ Gotham-based Shoelace Prods.

Revolution’s upcoming slate includes Ridley Scott’s “Black Hawk Down”; “XXX,” starring Vin Diesel; Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled project, starring Adam Sandler; “Gigli,” directed by Martin Brest; “The Chambermaid,” starring Jennifer Lopez; and “Hostile Act,” starring Bruce Willis.
