Scott will don ‘Monk’ robe For MGM

'American Pie' thesp joins Chow in comic book-based pic

HOLLYWOOD — Seann William Scott soon will be crouching next to chop-socky star Chow-Yun Fat (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”), having just inked a mid-seven figure deal for MGM’s “Bulletproof Monk.”

Pic is based on the short-lived, underground comic series published by Image Comics and Flypaper Press.

Originally written by Gotham Chopra and Brett Lewis with art by Michael Avon Oeming and Jason Baumgartner, “Bulletproof” comic centered on a Chinese refugee who travels to America seeking an enigmatic hero who he believes can save his family from an oppressive Chinese government.

In the MGM adaptation, things will be decidedly different. Directed by video helmer Paul Hunter (“Lady Marmalade”), scribes Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff (“Men of War”) will tell a tale about an immortal martial arts master who becomes a mentor to a young, street-wise boy.

John Woo and Terence Chang are producing via their MGM-based Lion Rock shingle, along with Chuck Roven’s Atlas Entertainment.

The Gersh-repped Scott got his feature break in Universal Pictures sex comedy “American Pie” and its sequel as the jock Steve Stifler. He recently toplined DreamWorks “Evolution” and next appears in the Drew Daywalt and David Schneider-helmed indie drama “Stark Raving Mad.”

Voris and Reiff are repped by the William Morris Agency.
