Danny DeVito and his Jersey Films have dropped out of developing Paramount’s “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” which DeVito was attached to direct. It remains unclear if scheduling or creative differences caused the split. Lynda Obst, Robert Evans and Christine Peters remain on board to produce the pic, which centers on a womanizer who bets his buddies he can stay in a single relationship for more than 10 days.
Since its inception, “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” had interested several Hollywood heavyweights, including Gwyneth Paltrow and helmers Mike Newell and Michael Hoffman. Kate Hudson signed on to topline the project last May. DeVito, repped by CAA, recently directed Warner Bros.’ “Death to Smoochy,” starring Ed Norton, Robin Williams and Catherine Keener.
