Twentieth Century Fox has acquired the Maurice Chauvet spec “Bride Wore Black,” with Natalie Portman attached to star.
Pic is described by one familiar with the project as “Beetlejuice” meets “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”
Romantic comedy centers on a young man attending the wedding of an ex-girlfriend. While lodged at a hotel, he soon finds that his room is haunted by a beautiful ghost, to be played by Portman, who plans to disrupt the wedding herself, having been jilted at the altar years ago.
Portman next appears in “The Seagull” for helmer Mike Nichols opposite Meryl Streep, and toplines “Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones” due for release next May.
“Bride’s” development is being overseen by TCF production prexy Hutch Parker and by veepee of production Elysa Koplovitz.
Chauvet is repped by AMG. Portman also is repped by AMG and by ICM.
