Par TV putting Fox on its ‘Dance’ card

Film to become smallscreen series

Paramount Network TV has opted to “Save the Last Dance” for Fox, which has made a script commitment for a TV version of the hit film.

Producers Robert Cort and David Madden — who now heads up Fox Television Studios’ made-for-TV movie division — are attached to help turn “Dance” into a small screen project. Cort and Madden will serve as exec producers along with Dan Pyne (“Any Given Sunday”). Toni Ann Johnson (“Ruby Bridges”) will write the script.

Released in January by Paramount and MTV Films, “Save the Last Dance” starred Julia Stiles as an aspiring ballerina who ends up attending an inner city high school, where she’s taken under the wing of a hip-hop dancer (Sean Patrick Thomas).
