LONDON — Working Title Films, Granada and Endemol Entertainment are among several suitors reportedly in talks to buy “Billy Elliot” producer Tiger Aspect.
A report in London’s Financial Times identified Working Title, owned by Vivendi Universal, as the leading candidate.
Tiger Aspect chairman Peter Bennett-Jones has previously stated he would like to bring a strategic partner into the company rather than sell it outright.
The Financial Times estimates Tiger Aspect, a leading player in British TV comedy, drama and wildlife programming as well as feature films, could be valued at £50 million ($75 million).
Tiger Aspect Pictures, the company’s movie arm, has a first-look deal with Working Title, and the two outfits co-produced “Billy Elliot” and “Bean.” TAP also made Brit hit “Kevin and Perry Go Large” and upcoming pic “The Martins” for Icon Entertainment.
