HOLLYWOOD — Director Ang Lee and Nickelodeon prexy Albie Hecht will be the top honorees at the New York Civil Liberties Union’s 50th anniversary celebration tomorrow night.
In a party at Gotham’s Irving Plaza, Sigourney Weaver, who starred in Lee’s “The Ice Storm,” and journo-writer Linda Ellerbee will present Lee and Hecht with the Florina Lasker awards for courage and integrity in the defense of civil liberties. Jewel and James Brown are slated to perform.
Event, chaired by Artemis Records prexy Danny Goldberg, fetes Hecht for spearheading diverse children’s programming and Lee for filmmaking that celebrates cultural diversity.
The NYCLU also will honor Norman Siegel, who served as the org’s executive director from 1985 to 2000.
