Fox ups release date to Nov. 21

HOLLYWOOD — Twentieth Century Fox has upped the release date for its upcoming laffer “Black Knight” to Nov. 21. Pic, which is currently in post production, was expected to bow in 2002.

“Preview audiences have made it perfectly clear that this picture belongs in front of a holiday movie-going crowd,” said Robert Harper, vice chairman of Fox.

Pic stars Martin Lawrence who plays a con man and medieval

themepark worker named Jamal Walker. After a bizarre moat accident, Walker finds himself in 14th century England, where he uses his street smarts to help a down-and-out knight and a beautiful woman defeat an evil king.

“Black Knight” is directed by Gil Junger (“10 Things I Hate About You”) from a screenplay by Darryl J. Quarles (“Big Momma’s House”), Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow. The film is produced by Arnon Milchan, Quarles, Michael Green and Paul Schiff. Lawrence, Jeffrey Kwatinetz, Peaches Davis and Jack Brodsky are the exec producers.

“Black Knight” is a Fox/New Regency co-production. The two companies partnered last year on Lawrence’s “Big Momma’s House,” which grossed over $117 million domestically.
